Vivaldi’s Gloria – Summer Concert 2012

Dolce will be be singing Vivaldi’s Gloria in a concert which is a new venture for this 7 year old choir. The concert will take place in St. Andrew’s Church in Westland Row at 8pm on Thursday 10th May, and preparations have been under way for the past 3 months. Soloists have yet to be decided with auditions for them taking place in early April. Celine Kelly, our talented and loyal accompanist will also be with us on the night.

For most years since its foundation Dolce sang concerts at Christmas time and spent the second term of the year preparing for competitions. Following our great success last year in the Cork Choral Festival, our musical director decided it was time to raise our standard even more by presenting a more challenging work to the choir. The choir has risen to the challenge and the concert promises to be an interesting, musical and enjoyable night for all. The second half of the night will consist of a selection of sacred music – choral favourites from the most eminent composers. These pieces include Locus Iste, For Unto Us a Child is Born, Deo Gracias, Ave Verum (Mozart). Tickets are available from any choir member, and also at the door on the night.
