During these difficult times Dolce can’t hold indoor rehearsals but has managed to keep the choir active using Zoom for learning new music and then singing outdoors in secluded woods. Only 15 people may gather and physical distancing is observed in time restricted singing. Our musical director, Deirdre, says :
The positives which I didn’t foresee are the mystical, spiritual dimension – not only for the singers but also for those passing by who would appreciate it. Also, shown in much peer-reviewed research, the health benefits of simply being in the woods are manifold – it boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure, provides lots of oxygen which is great for fighting diseases such as cancer, and soothes the spirit as we’re surrounded by calmness. It’s far from the warm rehearsal venues of previous years, but it gives us the opportunity to sing together in a safe, natural, healing atmosphere.
So whilst we can, Dolce will continue to sing with restrictions for the foreseeable future.
